Virtual EMDR Therapy in California

You may look like you have it together on the outside—but inside, you’re exhausted. Maybe anxiety is running the show. Maybe you feel stuck in old patterns that keep you overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of what you need. Or maybe the weight of past trauma is catching up with you, no matter how hard you’ve worked to push through.

Together, we’ll make space for what’s been pushed aside, build tools that bring relief and clarity, and help you reconnect with the version of yourself that feels whole, steady, and strong.

If you're looking for a trauma-informed therapist in California, I’m here when you’re ready.

Welcome

Elizabeth Zimmerman, LMFT, an EMDR therapist in California

Elizabeth Zimmerman

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Hi, I’m Elizabeth Zimmerman, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of Creekside Therapy. For the past 20 years, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside adults as they navigate the complexities of healing—first in community mental health, and now in my private practice providing online therapy to clients across California.

My work is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and deep respect for each person’s unique path. I don’t believe therapy is about "fixing" what's broken. It’s about helping you reconnect with your strength, your resilience, and your capacity to grow.

While EMDR is a powerful tool I often use to support healing from trauma and emotional pain, I also draw from CBT, mindfulness-based practices, relational therapy, and somatic awareness. Every person is different, and I tailor our work to what will support you best.

My style is warm, collaborative, and gently challenging when needed. I strive to create a space where you feel safe to be fully yourself—no rushing, no judgment, just steady support for your journey forward.

Outside of therapy, you’ll often find me hiking, painting in nature, or spending time with my dogs. Being outdoors helps me recharge and stay connected—and I believe, like many of my clients, that healing often begins in the simplest, most grounded moments.

My Approach

Therapy with me is active, creative, and personalized.

While EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a core part of my work—especially for trauma and stuck emotional patterns—it’s not the only tool I use. I tailor our work based on your needs, drawing from:

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to challenge unhelpful thoughts and develop healthier coping strategies

  • Mindfulness to support emotional regulation and present-moment awareness

  • Art therapy to access self-expression and insight beyond words

  • Strength-based approaches to to connect with your resilience—not just your pain

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model. Whether you’re seeking online therapy for anxiety, healing from trauma, or working through emotional overwhelm, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward at your own pace.

Above all, my work is grounded in four core values:

  • Humor, because laughter is healing.

  • Love, because we all need connection.

  • Authenticity, because truth-telling opens the door to change.

  • Courage, because doing the work of healing takes guts—and you don’t have to do it alone
